Training and skills transfer for a stronger communications industry
Burson Marsteller Africa is committed to advancing the public relations industry across the continent through communications training and skills development. Our long standing focus on training and skills transfer and the development of this focus into the Burson-Marsteller Africa Training Academy is a legacy of which we are proud.

We believe that investment in our employees is reflected in the calibre of our client work. In South Africa, our internal ASSET training programme provides professional enrichment, with a focus on strategic client counsel, business development, people management, creativity and the business of the business. exposing them to local and international training and best practice

Starting Blocks is our successful internship programme. In 1998, we made a decision to put something back into the public relations industry by offering annual internships to third year students at local universities. An 8 month internship provides students with a mix of theoretical training and hands on experience of working in an agency on a variety of client accounts. Today, Burson-Marsteller has trained and mentored over 40 interns, several of whom have stayed on in permanent positions or have gone on to join other top South African agencies or corporates.

From an African network perspective, we meet annually for our Burson-Marsteller Africa Conference – the focus being on sharing best practice from a local and international perspective and learning new skills in areas of cutting-edge thinking and thought leadership.
