Economic Empowerment In South Africa our executive team is predominantly female and black, and 26% of our equity is in the WPP Protea Staff Share Incentive Scheme of which our black employees are beneficiaries. We have an approved Employment Equity Plan and are a Level Two B-BBEE contributor. In keeping with the Employment Equity Act, we recruit, train and develop candidates from the designated groups. Several of the 50+ students – the majority of them empowerment candidates – who have participated in our Starting Blocks internship programme which has run for over 20 years, have been offered permanent positions. In terms of procurement, we follow a policy of securing quotes from suppliers that are members of designated groups, where appropriate.
